About this directory.
Read this before you trust a line on the site. The status is lay, the list starts empty, and the name is not a claim of office.
Lay status.
This is an independent lay directory and formation resource. It is written by lay people for people looking for the Mass.
It is not a parish. It is not a chapel. It is not a diocesan office. It is not a parallel church. It has no bishop, no pastor, and no canonical mission.
It is not the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales, founded in 1965. The address latinmasssociety.online does not make it that society. No diocese and no society has commissioned these pages. If a sentence here ever sounds like an official notice, disregard the sentence.
What we keep.
- Directory.
- Times for the Traditional Latin Mass, meaning the Roman Rite with the 1962 Missal, and only when a time is actually known. The public list is empty until then.
- Formation.
- Catechism in brief, and a guide to the missal, for beginners. It points back to the Church’s own books. It does not replace them.
- Sacred music.
- The Ordinary in Latin, with a plain English sense, and a prayer before Mass. No recording is offered, because none is hosted here.
- Charity.
- Optional, and transparent. This site does not collect it. Works of mercy belong to your parish and to the poor near you. Give there.
What we refuse.
- No invented Mass times, clergy names, or endorsements.
- No claim of diocesan approval that we do not have.
- No political fundraising, and no commerce tied to the sacraments.
- No pretence that a form was emailed when it was only saved in the browser.
Fidelity, accuracy, and humility are the measure. If we do not know, we say we do not know.
