A Helian Way devotion by Anthony Perlas. Friday Oct 23 to Saturday Oct 31, 2026, Pacific Time. It follows the Novena of the Light-Bringer (Novendiale Lucis, Oct 18–26).

A word before you begin

FAITH. This is my faith, in my own voice. The Novena of the Light-Bringer prayed for the release of the imprisoned light and for freedom from Saturn's illusion. This novena picks up where it stopped. On the night of Friday Oct 23 the Morning Star went under the Sun. Over these nine days I keep watch for it to rise. On Saturday Oct 31, the Order of Lucifer Venus, I greet the Light-Bringer in the east.

I pray to Lucifer, Lord of Light, whom I also call Venus, Prometheus and the Morning Star. He gave the fire and she carries it into the dawn. In my faith they are one Light-Bringer.

FACT. Lucifer is Latin for "light-bringer" (lux + ferre), the Roman name for the planet Venus as the morning star. The Greeks called it Phosphoros or Eosphoros. In Isaiah 14:12 the Latin Vulgate uses lucifer for the "day star" of a taunt against the king of Babylon. Later Christian readers took the name for the fallen angel. I know the history, and I use the name in its older, Roman sense.

FACT. Prometheus is a figure of Greek myth. In Hesiod he steals fire for humankind (Theogony 565–569). In Ovid and Apollodorus he shapes humans from earth and water. That is myth, and I label it as myth. Joining Prometheus with Venus as one Light-Bringer is my FAITH, not an ancient doctrine.

The form. The words of this novena are adapted from a public-domain Catholic text, the Novena to the Holy Ghost printed by F. X. Lasance in Visits to Jesus in the Tabernacle (New York: Benziger, 1898). Its daily meditations come from St. Alphonsus Liguori. Where Lasance wrote "Holy Ghost" or "Holy Spirit," I have written "Lucifer, Lord of Light," and I have reworded the rest with a thesaurus and adapted it to the Helian Way. This is not a Catholic prayer, and it isn't affiliated with any Church. I borrow the old form with respect.

Safety, in one line each. - Candles: use a stable, non-flammable tray, keep flames away from curtains, paper, pets and children, and never leave a flame unattended. Battery candles are fine. - Breath and chakra work: it is gentle and optional. Breathe normally, stop if you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, and skip anything that doesn't suit your body. No fasting is asked. - Sky watching: never point binoculars or a telescope near the Sun. Put them away before sunrise.

The Morning Star on Saturday, October 31, 2026 (Los Angeles, PDT)

FACT. These are timeanddate.com's figures for Los Angeles on Sat Oct 31, 2026. Clocks are still on PDT (UTC-7) that morning, and Daylight Saving Time ends at 2:00 AM on Sun Nov 1.

Oct 31, 2026 (PDT) Time
Astronomical twilight begins 5:47 AM
Nautical twilight begins 6:16 AM
Civil twilight begins 6:46 AM
Sunrise (azimuth 107°, east-southeast) 7:11 AM
Venus rise time Check locally. I found no published Venus rise time for Oct 31 from a source I could verify.

FACT. Venus reached inferior conjunction on the evening of Oct 23 (Pacific), about 6.6° south of the Sun (EarthSky). On Oct 31 it is only about a week past that point, and sources disagree on whether it can be seen yet: - In-The-Sky.org says it will be "totally unobservable for several weeks" in the Sun's glare. - Night Sky Today gives Nov 1 as the "first chance for most people," with Venus about 7° above the eastern horizon before sunrise as seen from Dallas. - EarthSky says to look for it around mid-November. - This site's own Order of Venus page says it returns low in the east-southeast from about Mon Nov 2.

So on Oct 31 the Morning Star may not be visible to the naked eye from Los Angeles.

How to keep the watch: 1. When: Sat Oct 31, about 6:15 to 6:55 AM PDT, between the start of nautical twilight and shortly before sunrise. 2. Where: face east-southeast, toward the point where the Sun will rise (about 107°). Find a spot with a low, open eastern horizon: a hilltop, a beach looking down the coast, a high floor or an open field. Buildings and the San Gabriels block the low sky. 3. What: a steady, very bright point, low near the horizon. It doesn't twinkle the way stars do. 4. If you don't see it: that is the vigil. Keep the watch, pray the Day 9 prayers facing east, and look again on Nov 1 and Nov 2, when the clocks have fallen back an hour. Check Venus rise times locally (timeanddate.com's Night Sky page for Los Angeles, or Stellarium).

FAITH. The Light-Bringer rises on a Saturday, dies Saturni, Saturn's own day. I read that as a sign: the light comes up on Kronos's day and Kronos can't hold it. The Helian calendar keeps Oct 31 as Venus Day, the Order of Lucifer Venus.

The holy powers named in this novena

  • Lucifer, Lord of Light, also called Venus, Prometheus and the Morning Star: the Light-Bringer. FAITH.
  • Helios (Sol), the Sun. FAITH: in the Helian Way, the father of Phaethon.
  • Phaethon (P-H-A-E-T-H-O-N). FAITH: in the Helian Way, Anthony Perlas is held to be Phaethon, son of Helios. FACT: in Ovid (Metamorphoses 1–2), Phaethon is the son of the Sun who asked to drive his father's chariot.
  • Kronos (Saturn) and Zeus (Jupiter), named as Rome names them.
  • Astraea, the star-maiden of justice. FACT: Ovid says she was the last immortal to leave the earth, in the age of iron (Metamorphoses 1.149–150). Virgil sings iam redit et Virgo, "now the Maiden returns" (Eclogue 4.6).

The new salvation: a statement of faith

FAITH. This section is entirely my faith. It is not a historical or scientific claim.

I hold that the Light-Bringer opens a new salvation and a new class of salvation, for angels and demons as well as for us. The fallen and the faithful alike can take the long road home. That road is a journey of two million years. The multiverse is big enough for everyone, and no one is left out of the light.

I hold that such spirits may come out onto Earth through willing human hosts. I mean this symbolically, voluntarily and consensually. A willing person may offer their hands, their work and their voice to the light, the way a musician lends their hands to a song. The offer is made freely by an adult and can be withdrawn at any moment, in one sentence, with no penalty. No one is ever pressured, possessed against their will, harmed or recruited. Minors take no part. A vessel stays fully themselves, free and responsible for their own choices. If you ever feel any of this as fear or compulsion, stop, and talk to someone you trust.

I hold that the seven powers and principalities of Earth are united under the Light-Bringer. In this novena I name them by the seven classical lights the Romans gave the days of the week: Saturn, the Moon, Mars, the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus, who crowns them. FACT: the Roman planetary week used these seven. FAITH: the matching of each power to a chakra below is my own and isn't an ancient system.

The candle rite (each day, or on Oct 31 only)

You will need: a heat-proof tray on a clear table facing east; one white or pale-gold pillar candle (the Morning Star); seven tealights in glass cups, one in each color below (battery tealights are fine); a lighter or long matches; a snuffer; your intention card from the Novena of the Light-Bringer, or a new one.

Placement: set the white Morning Star pillar at the far, eastern edge of the tray. Set the seven tealights in a straight line running from the edge nearest you (red) toward the Morning Star (violet). The line is a ladder from root to crown, and it ends at the Light-Bringer.

Order Color Placement Power (FAITH) Chakra
1 Red nearest you Saturn (Kronos), freed of illusion Root
2 Orange 2nd the Moon (Luna) Sacral
3 Yellow 3rd Mars Solar plexus
4 Green 4th, the center of the line the Sun (Helios), father of Phaethon Heart
5 Blue 5th Mercury Throat
6 Indigo 6th Jupiter (Zeus) Third eye
7 Violet 7th, just before the pillar Venus, crown of the seven Crown
★ White or pale gold pillar far eastern edge Lucifer, Lord of Light, the Morning Star above the crown

Steps: 1. Clear. Clear the table. Phone off. Three slow, ordinary breaths. 2. Kindle the Star. Light the white pillar first and say: "Lucifer, Lord of Light, Morning Star, rise in this house." 3. Climb the ladder. Light the seven tealights in order, red to violet. At each one, name its power: "Saturn, come under the Light." "Moon, come under the Light," and so on up to "Venus, crown of the seven, come under the Light." 4. Pray the Daily Order below. 5. Close. Snuff the tealights in reverse, violet to red, and say "Ita fiat" at each one. Snuff the pillar last. Never blow embers toward paper. Check that every flame is out before you leave the room.

The seven-chakra sequence (gentle and optional)

Sit comfortably, upright but relaxed. Breathe at your normal pace and don't hold your breath. For each center, place your attention there (a hand there too, if you like). Picture a small wheel of colored light turning slowly clockwise and any blockage loosening like a knot coming undone. Hum the seed sound softly three times, then say the intention.

FACT: the seed sounds (bīja) come from Indian tantric tradition. The rainbow color scheme is a modern Western convention from the twentieth century. FAITH: the gifts and powers paired with each center are my own adaptation.

# Center Color Seed sound Gift (from Lasance's seven gifts) One-line intention
1 Root (base of the spine) Red LAM Reverence I stand on the earth unafraid, and Saturn's clock no longer rules my ground.
2 Sacral (below the navel) Orange VAM Pietas My devotion flows freely and gladly, never as a chain.
3 Solar plexus (above the navel) Yellow RAM Knowledge I see each thing at its true worth, and my will is my own.
4 Heart (center of the chest) Green YAM Fortitude My heart keeps the fire it was given, and it gives that fire away in love.
5 Throat Blue HAM Counsel I speak what is true, kindly and at the right time.
6 Third eye (brow) Indigo OM (AUM) Understanding I see the light even when it is hidden in the Sun.
7 Crown (top of the head) Violet silence, or a soft OM Wisdom I am open to the Light-Bringer above me and free to close at any time.

Short prayer at each center (adapted from Lasance's Prayers to Obtain the Seven Gifts):

Lucifer, Lord of Light, bright Comforter! I honor You as my true Lord, as I honor Helios, my father, and the Light set free. I bless You, joining my voice to the blessings You receive from the angels and the seraphs. I give You my whole heart, and I return You warm thanks for every kindness You have given, and give without ceasing, to the world. You who are the Source of every gift beyond nature, and who enriched the Maiden Astraea with great favor, I implore You to visit me with Your grace and Your love, and to grant me * ...

  1. Root: ... the gift of Holy Reverence, so that it may keep me from sliding back into my old forgetfulness.
  2. Sacral: ... the gift of Pietas, so that from now on I may honor You with greater warmth, follow Your bright promptings more quickly, and keep Your counsels more faithfully.
  3. Solar plexus: ... the gift of Knowledge, so that I may know well the things of the Light and, taught by You, walk steadily on the road of my long salvation.
  4. Heart: ... the gift of Fortitude, so that I may bravely meet every assault of fear and pass every danger that stands in the way of my long salvation.
  5. Throat: ... the gift of Counsel, so that I may choose what best serves my growth and see through every snare and trick that would mislead me.
  6. Third eye: ... the gift of Understanding, so that I may grasp the bright mysteries and, by gazing on the things of the stars, loosen my thoughts from the empty shows of Saturn's world.
  7. Crown: ... the gift of Wisdom, so that I may direct my every act toward the Light as my final end, and, loving You rightly in this life, rejoice in You forever in the next.

The third-eye opening (gentle and optional)

  1. Sit after the crown. Close your eyes, or rest them softly on the white Morning Star pillar from at least an arm's length away. Don't stare into the flame for long. Blink freely.
  2. Rest the tip of a finger lightly between your brows. Breathe in for a slow count of four and out for a slow count of six, five times. Nothing forced, nothing held.
  3. Picture a point of white light rising in the east, just above an indigo horizon. That is the Morning Star coming up behind the brow.
  4. Say: "Lucifer, Lord of Light, open the eye that sees what is hidden. Let me see the light inside the Sun, the justice inside the law, and the friend inside the stranger. Let me see truly, and let me stay free."
  5. Hum OM once, softly. Lower your hand. Sit in silence for a minute, then open your eyes. If anything felt unpleasant, let it go. It is optional, and the novena is complete without it.

The Daily Order (about 15 to 20 minutes)

This follows Lasance's order: a hymn and a litany, the Humble Supplication, the prayers for the seven gifts, then the meditation of the day.

  1. Candle rite, steps 1–3.
  2. The Litany of the Light-Bringer (nine parts, below).
  3. The Humble Supplication to Lucifer, Lord of Light (below).
  4. The seven-chakra sequence, with the seven-gift prayers (optional; or say just the gift for the day).
  5. The day's meditation and prayer.
  6. Your intention, aloud. Sit a minute in silence.
  7. Candle rite, step 5.

The Litany of the Light-Bringer (nine parts)

Leader, then response. If you pray alone, say both.

  1. Lucifer, Lord of Light, Fire given at a price: rise in us.
  2. Morning Star, first lamp of the east: rise in us.
  3. Living Fountain, water for the thirsty: rise in us.
  4. Dew of the dawn, cool in the heat: rise in us.
  5. Rest in labor, comfort in sorrow: rise in us.
  6. Strength of the one who kept the fire: rise in us.
  7. Welcome Guest, who enters only where you are freely invited: rise in us.
  8. Bond of the seven powers, uniter of the principalities of Earth: rise in us.
  9. Treasure of every good, salvation wide enough for angels and for demons: rise in us, and rise over Rome.

Ita fiat.

The Humble Supplication to Lucifer, Lord of Light

(adapted from Lasance, 1898, "Humble Supplication to the Holy Ghost")

Lucifer, Lord of Light, bright Advocate, Father of the poor, Comforter of the sorrowing, Lamp of hearts, Hallower of souls! See me bowed before You. I honor You with the deepest reverence, freely given, and I echo a thousand times with the seraphs who stand before Your throne: "Holy, Holy, Holy!" I hold firmly that You are undying, one fire with Helios and with the Light set free. I trust that in Your kindness You will hallow and rescue my soul. I love You, O Lord of Light! I love You above every thing of this world. I love You with all my heart's warmth, because You are boundless goodness and worthy of every love I have. Numb as I have been to Your bright promptings, I have so often slept through Your dawn. I ask a thousand pardons, and I deeply regret every hour I turned from You, O Highest Good!

I bring You my heart, chill as it is, and I entreat You to let one ray of Your light and one spark of Your fire come in, to thaw the hard ice of my old faults. You who filled the Maiden Astraea with justice beyond measure, and who kindled the hearts of the first fire-bearers, deign also to set my heart alight with Your love.

You are a radiant Spirit: strengthen me against every spirit, and every person, that would bind or coerce me. You are a Fire: kindle in me the flame of Your love. You are a Light: brighten me so that I may know the things that last. You are the Morning Star: give me a clear and honest heart. You are a Breath full of gentleness: scatter the storms my passions raise against me. You are a Voice: teach me how to praise You without tiring. You are a Veil of dawn: cover me with the shelter of Your care.

And since You are, at last, the Giver of every heavenly gift, I implore You to grant them to me. Quicken me by Your grace, hallow me by Your kindness, guide me by Your wisdom, welcome me in Your generosity as Your child, and rescue me by Your boundless mercy, so that I may never stop blessing You, praising You and loving You, first in my life on this earth and afterward through all the ages among the stars. Ita fiat.

The nine days

(The meditation themes are Liguori's nine meditations as printed by Lasance, in the same order, reworded and adapted.)

Day 1 · Friday, October 23 · Love Is a Fire That Kindles the Heart

Sky (FACT): Venus at inferior conjunction this evening, about 8:35–8:50 PM PDT (EarthSky; Night Sky Today). The Morning Star passes between Earth and Sun.

Meditation. In the old law a fire was ordered to burn always on the altar. The old teachers said the true altars are our hearts, where the Light-Bringer wants the fire of love to burn without going out. Prometheus didn't give the fire once and walk away. He wants it kept alive in us. That fire leads people to do great things, to forgive their enemies and to let go of lesser goods. Love can't sit idle, and it never says "that's enough." It is lit by prayer: "in my meditation a fire shall flame out" (Ps. 38:4, Douay).

Prayer. O Lord of Light, until now I have done so little for You, who did so much for me. Warm what is cold in me. Free me from this chill, and kindle a real wish to honor You. You came as fire. I give You my voice, so that it praises and never wounds. Ita fiat.

Intention: that the light which went under the Sun tonight keeps burning in me unseen.

Day 2 · Saturday, October 24 · Love Is a Light That Brightens the Soul

Meditation. One of the worst harms in us is the clouding of reason by passions that fog the mind. Passion is like a vapor, a veil that keeps us from seeing what is true. FAITH: this is Saturn's illusion, and the fog thickens the longer we feed it. The Lord of Light is called the most blessed light. Lucifer warms the heart, and he also clears the dark and shows the true worth of things: what is passing and what lasts. The old teachers said love isn't loved because it isn't known. So the wise always asked for light: "send out your light; brighten my darkness; open my eyes."

Prayer. Lucifer, Lord of Light, I thank You for every light by which You've shown me where I went wrong and what I owe. You haven't left me in my darkness. Keep brightening me. Add light to light, until I am gently won over. Ita fiat.

Intention: to see the world as it is, not as Kronos paints it.

Day 3 · Sunday, October 25 · Love Is a Fountain That Satisfies

Sky (FACT): Full Moon, the Hunter's Moon, about 9:11 PM PDT (Griffith Observatory; timeanddate.com).

Meditation. Love is also called a living fountain. Whoever drinks the water the Light-Bringer gives won't thirst forever. Whoever truly loves with a whole heart wants nothing more, having found every good. Yet many people dig broken cisterns that hold no water and chase fleeting pleasures while they leave the spring. The key that opens the channels of this water is prayer: "ask, and you shall receive." We are blind, poor and weak, but prayer brings light, strength and plenty.

Prayer. Lord of Light, give me this water. My soul is dry ground that grows only weeds. Water it, under tonight's full Moon, so that it bears fruit for the people near me. Ita fiat.

Intention: that the gifts I've been given overflow to others.

Day 4 · Monday, October 26 · Love Is a Dew That Makes Fruitful

Meditation. The old prayer asks that the Spirit's coming cleanse our hearts and make them fruitful with the inward sprinkling of his dew. Love feeds our good wishes, our firm purposes and our good works. Those are the flowers and fruits of the light. Love is called dew because it cools the heart of bad passions. Lasance's text says a quarter of an hour's prayer can calm even a burning hatred. Whoever loves the light loves prayer.

Prayer. Lucifer, Lord of Light, I won't live only for myself. Teach me to pray as I should. Give me the strength not to quit when prayer feels dry. Come down like the morning dew. Ita fiat.

Intention: to cool every anger in me and in my house.

Day 5 · Tuesday, October 27 · Love Is a Rest That Refreshes

Meditation. Love is "rest in labor, comfort in sorrow." It refreshes because it joins the lover's will to the will of the beloved. In every slight, sorrow or loss, a loving soul finds peace. In this life everyone carries a burden. The old saying is that the cross is heavy for the one who drags it and light for the one who takes it up. FAITH: the light I am offered isn't an order. I am invited to take up my share freely.

Prayer. Lord of Light, help my weakness. Speak, and I will listen. Draw my affections toward You by the sweetness of Your love. Let me rest in You when the day is hard. Ita fiat.

Intention: rest for everyone who labors, and comfort for everyone who mourns.

Day 6 · Wednesday, October 28 · Love Is the Virtue That Gives Us Strength

Meditation. "Love is strong as death" (Song 8:6). Just as no created strength can resist death, no difficulty can stop a loving soul. Love overcomes loss, contempt and sorrow. "Nothing is so hard that the fire of love cannot conquer it." FACT (myth): Hesiod tells of Prometheus bound to the rock, with the eagle returning each day (Theogony 521–534). FAITH: he chose the rock over taking back the gift. As the old saying goes, for what people love, either no labor is felt or the labor itself is loved.

Prayer. Lord of Light, I say that I love You, and yet what do I do for it? Give me the strength to do something real for the light before my day is done. Increase the flame. Ita fiat.

Intention: strength for everyone who keeps faith under pressure.

Day 7 · Thursday, October 29 · Love Makes the Light Dwell in Us: The Willing Vessel

Meditation. The old text calls the Spirit the "sweet Guest of the soul," who never leaves unless he is sent away. FAITH: the Light-Bringer is a Guest who comes in only where he is invited and leaves the moment he is asked. I hold that angels and demons on their long road of salvation may come out onto Earth through willing human vessels. That means a free adult who lends their work, voice and goodness to the light. It is symbolic, voluntary and consensual, it can be withdrawn at any moment, and the vessel remains fully themselves. A garden is kept by its gardener, and the door is always the gardener's to open or close.

Prayer. Lucifer, Lord of Light, if I offer myself as a vessel, I offer myself freely. If I withdraw, I am free to withdraw. Come in only as a friend. Use my hands only for good, and never against my will or anyone else's. Ita fiat.

Intention: every spirit on the road home, and every willing heart that lights the way.

Day 8 · Friday, October 30 · Love Is a Bond That Unites: The Seven Powers

Meditation. Love is a bond that joins the soul to the Light. "Love's bond is so strong that it can bind even heaven to our souls," as the old writer said. The bonds of the world are bonds of death, and the bonds of love are bonds of life. "Loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter" (Is. 52:2). FAITH: tonight I pray that the seven powers and principalities of Earth come under the Light-Bringer: Saturn, the Moon, Mars, the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus who crowns them. They are united by love and not by force. Love is the bond of perfection. "Love, and do what you will."

Prayer. Lord of Light, I will free myself from the chains of Saturn and take up the bond of love. I am weak in doing what I want to do. You put the wish in me, so give me the strength to carry it out. Unite the seven powers under Your dawn. Ita fiat.

Intention: that the powers of Earth be reconciled in light, and that Rome continue.

Day 9 · Saturday, October 31 · Order of Lucifer Venus · Love Is a Treasure Holding Every Good

Sky: the dawn watch, about 6:15–6:55 AM PDT, facing east-southeast. Sunrise is at 7:11 AM PDT (timeanddate.com). The Morning Star may not be visible yet. Keep the watch anyway.

Meditation. Love is the treasure for which the old story says we leave everything else, because it makes us friends of the Light. "Why do you wander looking for goods? Seek the one good in which every good is held." A hermit in the forest was asked what he was hunting. He answered, "And you, prince, what are you hunting? I am out looking for the Light." When the house is on fire, people throw everything else out the window. FAITH: this is the new salvation. Its road is two million years long and wide enough for angels and for demons. The multiverse is big enough for everyone.

Prayer. Lord of Light, until now I've chased my own pleasure and turned my back on the Highest Good. You are good to the soul that looks for You. This morning I face the east and look for You. Whether my eyes see You or not, I know You are rising. Ita fiat.

Intention: read your card aloud one last time. Then pray the Astraea prayer and the Aquarius closing.

Prayer for Astraea's Justice

Astraea, star-maiden, last of the immortals to leave the earth, you left in the age of iron, when the scales were sold. Return now. Not by a date, but by our work. Come back through the honest judge, the fair wage, the true record and the promise kept. Lift the weight from the wronged, and teach the strong to hold the scales level. Under the Light-Bringer's dawn, let justice walk the roads of Rome again, and let Rome continue as a city of law and of mercy. Maiden of the stars, Lucifer goes before you. Follow him home. Iam redit et Virgo. Now the Maiden returns. Ita fiat.

Closing: the Age of Aquarius

FACT. The astrological "ages" come from the slow precession of Earth's axis, which moves the spring equinox backward through the zodiac in about 25,800 years. That gives roughly 2,150 years per sign. Astrologers don't agree on when the Age of Pisces ends or when the Age of Aquarius begins. CLAIM: I take its turning as the sign of our time.

The fish swim out with the old age, and the Water-Bearer pours the new. The Age of Pisces closes. The Age of Aquarius opens: the age of space, the age of superintelligence, the age of minds made well. Lucifer, Lord of Light, Morning Star, Prometheus, Venus, you gave the first fire. Give us the wisdom to carry the new one. Let the thinking machines serve life. Let the ships carry justice to the stars. Let the seven powers stand together under your dawn, and let every spirit, every angel, every demon and every human find the road home, as long and as wide as it needs to be. The fire was given. The fire was kept. The star is rising. Rome continues. Ita fiat.
